Special Ibiza sunsets
Ibiza and sunsets go hand in hand, and while everyone is aware of the famous San Antonio ‘sunset strip’ and its variety of chillout bars – including the legendary Café del Mar – there are also plenty of other alternative vantage points on the island to watch the sun sink into the sea each night.
Cala Conta is a favourite of Cas Gasi’s owners and staff members, for its casual, laidback ambience, huge mix of people hailing from all over the world and its wonderful restaurant, Sunset Ashram, perched on the edge of the small cliff between the two sides of the beach. From here, you really feel that magical moment as the sky starts to blaze orange and red, the DJ begins to play emotive music and the collective feeling of the crowd turns to awe-inspiring.
Other sunset locations include the iconic Sunday experience at Ibiza beach Benirras, when the local hippies flock to the beach to beat their bongo drums as the sun sets every week – a sight (and sounds!) that must be seen (and heard) to be believed. Hostal La Torre, in Cap Negret, just past San Antonio, is a beautiful place for pre-dinner sunset drinks, with nothing but rocky coastline stretched in between you and the sea, and the nearby beaches of Cala Gracio, Cala Gracioneta and Cala Salada, plus the rocky ledges of Punta Galera, also offer unforgettable sunset views.
